The full story
· What is cling?
Our static cling
stickers are made of high quality 8-mil vinyl that adheres without
an adhesive backing to most smooth, clean surfaces such as glass,
plastic or baked enamel finishes. Our stickers are movable and reusable
without leaving residue. You can switch them around on your vehicle
or move them to another vehicle. Just peel it off and reapply to
a clean surface. These stickers will not affect nor be affected
by defroster wires or window tint. We use only top-grade adhesive
vinyl that is manufactured for vehicle lettering. They will not
harm the paint and are removed easily.
·
How do they stay on without adhesive?
Static cling stickers
are the most versatile decals. Since they have no adhesive, they
can easily be removed and reapplied at will, on another window or
on a different vehicle. They are ideal if you plan to sell your
car soon, or if you lease.
Our static cling
stickers adhere through the exchange of static electricity between
the glass and the vinyl. It is important that you clean the application
surface with a commercial window cleaner such as Windex before applying
your sticker. Dirt will reduce the necessary exchange of static
electricity preventing a secure bond.
It is also important
that your sticker is clean. If you have been handling it and have
fingerprints on it, it might not stick well. If it gets dirty you
can wash it with warm water and hand or dish soap, rinse well and
dry it thoroughly, then reapply. Static cling stickers may be removed
and repositioned as often as you like as long as you follow the
above procedures.
·
How do I apply my cling sticker?
Applying static cling
is easy. The most important step is to clean the surface thoroughly
before application. Use a commercial window cleaner and a clean
dry cloth. Using the sleeve of your shirt or plain water is not
adequate. If your window is extra dirty, clean it twice. Even if
you have just returned from a car wash or just hand washed the car
yourself, please be sure to clean the surface area with a commercial
window cleaner just prior to application to insure best results.
Once clean, peel
off the white backing material and apply. Avoid any molding pieces
or sharp corners and keep the sticker out of the path of the wiper
swipe. Starting from the center top, smooth the vinyl down and outward.
Push any bubbles out toward the closest edge with your fingers.
Make sure the edges are down flat against the glass without puckering
gaps. There may be small bubbles that you won't be able to remove.
They should disappear once the sun warms your window, in a few hours.
Use your fingertips
or a soft cloth (not your fingernails) to gently smooth the vinyl.
Take care not to scratch or smudge the image while smoothing. If
your sticker is in the wrong place or is crooked simply peel it
off and try again. A plastic credit card works well to lift the
initial edge when removing or repositioning.
·
Will it adhere to the body of a car?
Your cling sticker
will adhere to most of the metal parts of the vehicle
body, but they are really meant for the windows. Note: Most
cars made today have plastic bumpers. Static cling stickers may
not adhere well to a plastic bumper. Also, heavy wax on the vehicle
may diminish the "clingability" of the vinyl. They do
work well on the tailgate of a pickup and they look especially good
on a (ugh!) chrome bumper.

What about the car wash?
There have been mixed
reviews on our stickers successfully going through a commercial
car wash. We have concluded that if a car wash uses a laser-like
stream of water directly on your vehicle, it is best to remove it
before washing and reapply the sticker after the vehicle is dry.
On the other hand, MVP stickers have successfully gone through car
washes that have a softer, more scattered spray many times with
no problems. Use your judgment.
Enjoy
your stickers! And thanks for getting visible.
